Description
Model rough three-dimensional scale and full-size exterior and interior models of proposed automobiles and/or components. Work duties involve a considerable amount of skill, accuracy and coordination. Work in a group situation, normally under close supervision, following established procedures and specifications.
Applies clay to armatures in preparation for surfacing
Sets templates to the clay to develop form
Makes rough models that are later finished by more senior personnel
Uses data acquisition equipment to obtain dimensional information from models
Sculpts three-dimensional models under the direction of modeling supervision or designated leader
Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise
Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities

Demonstrated aesthetic understanding of form
Good oral and written communications skills
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
Creative proficiency with supporting portfolio
Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required

Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to engineering preferred
Education and Training
High school graduate or equivalent training, plus additional training such as that acquired in two years of fine arts school with emphasis on modeling

solving. Work involves considerable creativity, skill and coordination and is performed with other modelers or independently. Has wide latitude for
independent judgment with only general supervision. Occasional instruction and training of other modeling personnel.
