Yea Phil,
He's got a knack of using almost any tool to his advantage like a real handy guy. As far as I know he's internationally known, a bit of a star.

Hi Phil,
The answer to your question is, no one. Every modeler has his or her own strengths and those individual strengths combine to form one cohesive modeling team.
It is the responsibility of the modeling manager to understand those people that he has working for him and to position them to produce the best possible model.
Every modeler is still learning regardless of the amount of years that he or she has in experience, by watching your co-workers handle a certain situation and the methods used can influence your own technique. Sure there are certain set procedures that most people adopt and are a standard way of doing that particular modeling job but from there on in, everyone is an individual. Some people prefer steels, others rakes and finishers, others wire tools and so it goes on.
My advice is learn what you can by watching other people do the same task and pick the methods that suit your style the best, ask question and keep practicing.

Hello , the best modelers in the world are 7 to 10 steps ahead in their mind on the stage of all properties they are following and they are able to work with and place team personalities accordingly regarding the studio needs. They must have a concern for quality that exceeds expectations, as well as being talented in 2d and 3d visualization. on paper , computer and mentally instantaneous fore thought. not to forget being humble with integrity

I think the videos you talk about came from Chavant, done in the late 80's early 90's. They are an attempt to show the novice the basics of our ART. To date there is three videos, with four more in the works.
If these are the ones you refer to, then thank you! for I am the humble sole who tried to create them, not having a clue on Video production, presentation or format, but would you believe that they have sold many hundreds if not thousands. We did have a couple of returns and criticism about some items, but as stated Claymodeler, not Video producer .
What we now need is a Clay School, with accredited teachers, I would be interested in talking to any retired Clay Masters should there think it would be a good idea.
As to who is the best, why would anyone want to know, just doing it right, seeing the end result, listerning to coments " Thats still done by hand " is all the rewards one needs, that is if you have no needs for money.
