Hey guys,
Im curious what type of work one would expect to receive on a first day job as a sculptor, be it Alias or clay....or during the first month for that matter... I'm an Alias guy with traditional clay training, but I feel I excel on the tube...
Thanks...

Hello BlendCRV,
The answer to your question depends on the type of position you were going into. If you were starting in a permanent position you would first be initiated into the company and their policies, this would probably take a few days and then you would be put on a project with one or more of your new colleagues to help you ease your way into their system of working.
If you were starting at a new company as a contractor you would be first shown around the studio and introduced to the staff, assigned to a project which you will be expected to execute straightaway (whether you are working with clay or Alias).
The difference between the two is that as a permanent employee of a company they are prepared to give you on-going training but as a contractor they are hiring you with the understanding that you already posess the knowledge to complete projects.
Best of Luck
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Thank you very much for the reply and information. It was exactly what I was looking for.
I would love to shoot for a position as a direct-hire in the GM Detroit studio, but I hear its very difficult to get a direct placement without being contract first?
Thanks!
